Caxibasa - gourd rattle

A small and diverse shaker instrument from the north of Brazil! Insted of the classical basketwork, the caxibasa has a calabash as a sound body. The bottom piece is made of neatly cut and sanded piece of thick gourd wall - the same as a caxixi has. The small artwork is filled with hard tree seeds which create a beautiful sound. Gourds all grow differently. Each instrument is individually handcrafted by the small workshop of L Percussão. Each Caxibasas is a bit different, some are rounder, others are oblong - each one a unique piece, but they all sound great! Compared to a classical caxixi, the caxibasa not only produces a clear sound when the seeds hit the bottom of the instrument, but also when they are shaken against the side walls of the gourd.
Great as an effect instrument, natural shaker or also for Capoeira!
