alfaia - bombo de maracatu

No results were found for the filter.

The alfaia (or also: bumbo, bombo de maracatu) is the key instrument in the traditional Maracatu de Baque Virado from Pernambuco. It was popularised throughout Brazil in the early 90s by Chico Science and the Mangue Beat movement. Nowadays, the alfaia is played by percussionists in various popular music styles such as the mangue, funkeado or embolada. Our Alfaias are mainly made directly in Recife / Pernambuco, in the workshops of experienced traditional drum makers and percussionists, but also in Europe. All of them are made in small series with great attention to detail.
