Gabriel Lopes (Monobloco), musician, teacher, researcher of Samba school baterias, and author of the two books As Bossas do Mestre Maurão and Mestre Dudu: As Paradinhas da não existe mais quente (see links below the article) is touring Europe from April to June 2022 offering 2 different workshops. Any playing levels are respected and Gabriel will find plenty of fabulous Samba input to enhance your group performance by a mile. Gabriel will be offering two differently structured workshops and adapt it accordingly to the level of your group:
Workshop 1: Traditional Samba from Rio de Janeiro
- basic Samba Patterns
- instrument techniques
- the role of each instrument
- different styles of baterias
- elements of arrangements
- bossas (breaks), classical and contemporary
Workshop 2: Contemporary Batucada
- differences between blocos and Samba school baterias
- instrument techniques
- adapted grooves (funk, coco, maracatu, maculele etc.)
- elements of arrangements that you can use for your own group
