CONCERT CUT AND DOCUMENTATION
BONGAR - AN EXTRAORDINARY BAND (BRAZIL 2013)
The group Bongar is a particularly special band in the musical scene of Olinda and Recife in the north-east of Brazil. They have their deep roots in the terreiro of the Nação Xamba Candomblé and play electrifying music. Powered by the deep bassy sounds of an alfaia played on both sides the Coco rhythms get a funky character. Congas, ilus, shekeré, ganzas, agogos and vocals sung by a choir weaving a dense soundscape around the listeners. The result of the concert recordings is a highly inspiring and spiritual party music.
