11.-13.8.2023 SAMBA IN HARTBERG – Austria's Samba Festival
After last year's great success, the Escola de Samba Baturim from Vienna and the quaint town of Hartberg in Eastern Styria invite you again to a 3-day festival at an extrordinary location offering workshops for Samba Reggae, Samba Batucada & Dance.
The ultimate Alpine samba event - you may well say that! Samba in Hartberg is a cultural event association, which also includes members of Vienna's renowned Escola de Samba Baturim. They proudly invite you to the three-day festival SAMBA IN HARTBERG in beautiful Eastern Styria for the second time to celebrate a colourful festival of both cultures - Austrian and Brazilian. The event took place for the first time last year and was met with exuberant enthusiasm during afternoon and evening shows that enchanted the audience with Samba, dance and live Pagode sessions (we went there to check it out - it was awesome!). While last year the whole town was swept up in samba fever for the weekend, visitors and participants were delighted to see what a colourful, diverse and thoughtfully put-together programme transported the audience into the world of Brazilian percussion and dance.
Samba in charming Eastern Styria
Baturim has been active in Vienna for 16 years under the musical direction of Clarissa Altmann with an energetic and authentic Rio-style bateria - both culturally and musically. The Maestra has been playing regularly with Rio's Samba Schools at Carnival for over a decade and wanted to bring this spirit to the people in her home country as well.
Workshops for all levels: Samba Reggae, Samba Batucada, Dance
Brazilian food and drinks will be served on all three days (although you simply have to try the local food, too!). In addition, the town square is filled with wonderful gastronomic options. Children's programme ( instrument making for kids) adds to the family-friendly atmosphere. If you've never been there - Hartberg is a small town in a hilly mountainous landscape with a historic town centre and a large market square, where people meet, the gastronomy buzzes, and where, far from the hustle and bustle and big city noise, the little things in life are appreciated. Culinary treats, culture and hospitality are the heart of the event, and Samba of course. Since the second round of the Hartberg Samba Festival is much looked forward to, it is a promising sign that this still young event is already one of the highlights of the European Samba scene. Special Guests: Fabio Allmann (Monobloco) and Lorenzo Gangi (Batalá)
We saved the best for last - festival highlight and special guest: FABIO ALLMAN is coming again this year and will give an unforgettable workshop. (If you don't know Fabão - quickly google him and fire up Monobloco on spotify). Lorenzo Gangi will heat up all Samba Reggae fans with powerful beats and choreographies.

Good vibes, top atmosphere, great music and of course Samba feeling in an absolute gem location - the "Styrian Città Slow" as they call themselves. Don't forget your Kernöl souvenir (green, very tasty, home-made pumpkin seen oil)!
