On March 9th, Naná Vasconcelos - one of Brazil's great percussionists, has died at the age of 71 years. He could magically bring any musical percussion instrument to true life, no matter if drums, berimbau, effect instruments on every-day objects or interplaying with a synphonie orchestra. We shall also not forget his beautiful and soundscaping voice. Naná had the very rare gift of being able to tell stories with his music and create a very personal sound cosmos. He played with all stars of the Brazilian music scene. In Europe he became famous with his duet partner Egberto Gismonti. Naná grounded Gismonti's complex compositions and virtuous guitar and piano performances. He was at home everywhere on earth. 12 years ago he returned to Recife. During many years he inaugurated the carnival in Pernambuco's capital together with more than 200 drummers.

Salve Naná, thank you for your special music played with your heart and soul!
