Aluminium timbal with 8 tension hooks, by Contemporanea

Timbals made of aluminium sound sharper than wooden timbals. So if you play many outdoor gigs, you´ll find an advantage in the sound simply because it is more present than a wood timbal. And if you can´t make friends with central-European climate, at least you can now take your timbal outside without having to worry. Aluminium timbals are pragmatically rain resistant though of course if they get wet, they need some attention.
The tension hoop is rounded off so can comfortably play, and the polished aluminium is rustical and shiny-shiny!

Street-timbal by heart!

What does B-stock mean?

B-Stock articles are products that have been used, for example, as display items, that have been demonstrated at an occasion and therefore show slight signs of use, or that have marks or slight defects due to the transport from Brazil to Europe, as well as return shipments. The defects are always minor, i.e. they have no influence on the playability, general function or the sound of the instruments. Slight defects are e.g. scratches or fingerprints, small dents, discolorations or slight traces of use. There might not be original packaging for B-stock articles, in this case we will provide adecuate and sufficient transport protection. With the purchase of any B-stock item you have the full right for warranty as well as the right to cancel and return.

Please find further information about B-stock articles in our FAQ.

CONTEMPORÂNEA in Brazil

This brand has a long tradition and good reputation in Brazil. Intensive contact to the musicians has always been an important part of their business strategy. They not only sell instruments, but mainly live their music. Every Saturday morning, many musicians meet up in CONTEMPORÂNEA´S music shop in the historic center of São Paulo. In a special back room, musicians of every age play Choro. The pagodeiros meet up in front of the shop for playing their sessions. Many of São Paulo´s smaller and larger Samba schools play CONTEMPORÂNEA instruments.

CONTEMPORÂNEA in Europe

Also in Europe CONTEMPORÂNEA is a popular brand which you sometimes even find in drum- and percussion shops that don´t have so much to do with Samba.

Instruments

CONTEMPORÂNEA has two lines: CONTEMPORÂNEA LIGHT and CONTEMPORÂNEA PRO.

The instruments of the LIGHT line are made of matt aluminium. Kept in a simple design and not being polished, the LIGHT line can be offered at a lower price and without suffering quality loss in terms of sound or durability. The robust PRO line is made of polished aluminium or wood.

Compared to other brands that also use aluminium for building instruments, CONTEMPORÂNEA instruments made from aluminium stand out by being built of thicker material which provides a massive sound to repinique, caixa and surdo, but therefore also a higher weight.
