Surdo light 22'' x 45cm, aluminium - black

Superlight XL bass fundo for your bloco!
Our lightest surdo line in a smart black finish for Samba Reggae - Afro Samba!
The Light surdos by Gope are built with extremely light constructional components. From a musical point of a view you could also call it a compact surdo. If you tried it once - you will never again let go of it! The principle of construction is easy: Save weight! If you dance a lot or your bloco does many choreographies in their shows, or if you like playing your surdo high up above your head doing show elements, or if you simply don´t like carrying too heave, then this ought to be your surdo!
The tension brackes, the hoop and metal elements are all very light, the tension rods are slimmer and therefore lighter as usual. The seam of the body is welded. Shells with welded seams produce a higher and more audible part of shell sound due to creating more constant vibrations.
The surdo seems delicate, but does not stand behind its heavier competitors. Of course weight always goes together with stability in some way, but we are happy to tell you that even after many years of experience, Gope´s light concept works very well and has proved to be successful.

In schwarz einfach super-cool. Auch innen wurde die Farbe nicht vergessen, so dass auch mit durchsichtigen Fellen eine tolle Optik gegeben ist. Surdo ansonsten in guter Verarbeitung und ein absolutes Leichtgewicht. Sehr empfehlenswert.

GOPE is a family-run business from the area around São Paulo. Today the company is being run in its third generation by the grand daughter of the firm´s founder.

The brand GOPE has been producing drums and smallpercussion instruments for over 50 years now. When the company was founded, there was already a small workshop in which drumsets were manufactured.

In 1962, the production of the typical Samba instruments began, iniciated by Humberto Rodella, the son of the founder. The company kept growing and after several relocations in São Paulo, GOPE finally found the right place for building a large production hall in Embu Guaçu, a suburb of São Paulo.

gope-expoSince then GOPE produces in Embu Guaçu everything from the Agogô to the Zabumba, a wide range of percussion instruments, and only recently also various wind instruments.

GOPE has always kept in close touch with the musicians. The ideas and proposals for modifications that they received from many of those contacts, have always had much influence in the development of new instruments and improvement of production.
