The repinique is an important instrument in any street-Samba formation. In Rio Samba it is typically played with one hand and a stick whilst Bahia's Afro blocos use two elastic nylon sticks. The repinique plays most calls, changing signals, intro and end of each piece, and also is the main character for a well structured musical flow.
