Cavaquinho with wide fingerboard, ideal for people coming to the cavaquinho from playing the guitar: beautifully crafted active-electric cavaquinho LUTHIER made of solid woods and open-pore finish, with case - APC top model

People who are switching to the cavaco from the guitar often find the narrow Brazilian fingerboards and the steep hand position particularly challenging and difficult to master. For this reason, APC has built a model with 6mm more nut width, which may not seem like much at first, but actually has quite an impact in terms of playing comfort. The narrow string action is loosened up and the change is really much easier.

The cavaquinho Luthier has an avtice-electric pickup and is APC's flagship model. It is made of solid wood components and brings a rich spectrum of sounds to every Samba. The small Brazilian ukulele is beautifully crafted with dark Pau Santo back and the contrast of the light solid spruce top. Selected woods for powerful, guitar-like sound with soft lows and penetrating, singing higher levels. This little companion will instantly boost your Samba de Enredo to another level. Visually striking: the open-pore finish, a thin layer of lacquer that exposes the deep natural pores of special tonewoods used for guitar luthiery and enhances the grain. The finish preserves the natural acoustic properties of tonewoods in a similar way to oils, but offers much better protection and looks very classy in a natural way.

Electrically amplified cavaquinhos are especially suitable if you play in groups consisting mainly of percussion. Excellent sound qualities that go well with vocals, whether in a Samba school with large bateria or other musical styles that include cavaquinho playing. If you are looking for a cavaco with amplification option that is of top quality, that you will still love in many years and that has excellent sound properties, this model could be just the right one.
Sophisticated, well thought-out design, good tuners, stylish finish and brilliant sounds that are particularly resonant due to the solid woods.
The cavaquinho comes with semi-soft case for transport protection and storage with backpack straps, carrying handle and extra pick compartment.

Almost half a century of luthier tradition goes into this small, high-quality crafted cavaquinho made in Portugal. APC specialises in Portuguese stringed instruments, their focus is on high quality standards and excellent sound. But also optically this model can show itself off. Soft, warm, local woods and the luthier experience of a family business have resulted in a series of instruments that we are quite proud to have in our range!

"APC"

Handmade quality cavaquinhos from Portugal, beautifully finished and made in Europe

Born in 1951, António Pinto Carvalho, founder of APC Instrumentos Musicais, opened his company in 1976 with the aim of producing high quality stringed instruments.

Already at the tender age of 10, António Pinto Carvalho began to learn the art he still devotes himself to today. Guided and inspired by his grandfather, he built the first cavaquinhos and guitars. Today he is one of the most famous guitar makers in Portugal, the company is still in the hands of his family.

With around 50 employees, APC is the largest national company in this field and produces and sells a wide range of instruments worldwide. Despite its traditional background, the company invests in the latest technology and strives for the greatest possible accuracy and precision in the manufacturing of string instruments. However, the irreplaceable work of a luthier remains important, turning every instrument into a unique piece and defining its beauty and sound. The symbiosis between 19th century craftsmanship and today's technology is the key to the quality and authenticity of every APC instrument.

APC Instrumentos Musicais stands for Portugal's reputation for string instrument making, a country as rich in chords and sound scapes as the string instruments themselves. Genuine Portuguese culture and tradition.
