The Songbook Candomblé’s Rhythms is the result of many years of living and studying this Afro-Brazilian culture, something so especially reserved to its initiated. A varied collection of quality MPB pieces (Brazilian Popular Music) are based on Candomblé’s sounds. However, until today, the essence of this sacred music has yet to be presented in full.

Through this book, musicians not only from Brazil, but from the most diversified musical worlds, will be able to get to know the Candomblé’s rhythms artistic beauty and musical quality. I hope many new compositions and creative musical arrangements are inspired by this book.

This songbook is part of the Brazilian Afro-Jazz Instrumental Project, which aims to divulge and value the Afro-Brazilian culture. This project has three main fronts: the songbook Camdomblé’s Rhythms; the album “Makumba de Butique Sonora – Afro Brazilian Sonorous Forge”, which fuses Afro-Brazilian rhythms with jazz; and by no means least, a DVD recorded live, with the special participation of the greatest names in Brazilian instrumental music.
